Beverly Wright
Candidate for Council At-Large
Tribal Members:
I'm a candidate for Councilmen at Large. Younger Tribal members may have heard my name, and for the Elders, we have gone through a lot in the 20 or so years since I was Chair.
I have decided to get involved in Tribal issues again because I am seeing and hearing negative comments from our members and from outside our Tribal community. Administrations over the last couple of elections have not made positive progress. Our members should be able to call in, speak to an employee, and within a reasonable time have their issue resolved. Members who have applied for a position should have their application acknowledged and be interviewed. When a report from the Treasurer/Chief of Staff states that we are in danger of losing millions of dollars because of inaction, then financial accountability is also an issue. There are present Council members who are aware of these wrongs and are working to correct them. But it takes the whole of Council to be on the same page with the same goals. One Council person does not represent us. It is the vote of the majority that dictates the course of action. Our administration needs to be reorganized. No progress can be made when the foundation is not solid and basic business practices are not adhered to.
This election will be mail-in ballots or vote in person. If you are doing mail-in remember to have a copy of your Tribal ID to go with the ballot. Does the office have your current address? I ask that you allow me the privilege of representing you so that I can work with other Councilmen to make positive progressive changes.
